About Us
Box Elder Behavioral Health was founded on the belief that meaningful behavioral health care should be compassionate, individualized, and grounded in strong clinical practice. What began as a shared vision between husband-and-wife team has grown into a practice serving clients across multiple states through accessible telehealth services.

Over the past decade, BEBH has expanded to provide a range of behavioral health services, including individual therapy, family conflict counseling, marriage counseling, psychosexual assessments, and specialized support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, substance use, and relationship challenges.

With backgrounds in both mental health and education, the foundation of BEBH was built on the idea that supporting people through life’s challenges requires not only professional expertise, but also empathy, collaboration, and genuine human connection. Today, BEBH continues to grow while remaining committed to the values it was founded upon: integrity, accessibility, compassion, and evidence-based care.

Our Story
How Box Elder Behavioral Health Began

When I reflect on how our business got started, it truly amazes me how everything came together. To understand the story of BEBH, it is important to first understand how Steve and I met.
I am a native New Yorker, while Steve grew up in New England. Neither of us had ever known life outside of the Northeast. We met through a setup — and yes, sometimes they actually do work out — after I moved to Boston with my college roommate. It did not take long for us to realize we were meant to build a life together.
Two Yankees longing for adventure and dreaming of becoming Southerners.
That dream became reality after the birth of our first daughter, Abigail, when we made a cross-country move to Georgia. Our second daughter, Charlotte, was later born in Savannah, officially bringing the South into our family story. During those years, our professional lives followed different paths. I spent more than thirty years in education, while Steve developed his extensive experience as a therapist in a variety of settings ranging from community service boards to correctional facilities.

So how did we end up starting Box Elder Behavioral Health when it seemed we were each firmly rooted in our own careers?

Much like our marriage, our strengths, personalities, and perspectives naturally complemented one another. As we began discussing ways we could help people together, we realized we could create something stronger by combining our knowledge and experience into one shared vision.
We wanted to build a practice that reflected our values — one centered on effective care, meaningful connection, and service to both our local community and those beyond it.

When we founded BEBH ten years ago, we never imagined that our practice would eventually support hundreds of clients across three states or grow to include several associate counselors who help expand our reach and mission.

At the core of both our marriage and our business is one simple belief:

Together, we are stronger.
Thirty-five years of marriage and ten years of growing BEBH have only reinforced that belief.
